White return air vent set into a soft green wall

The Superior Air Quality story

Our mission is simple: cleaner air in ordinary houses, from a filter you buy the frame of once and refill forever.

Superior Air Quality has been selling the Green Screen since before we owned it. Mickey and Gay Harris sold these filters for nine years, kept using them at home, and bought the company in 2016. It is still a small operation — 100% woman-owned, American made, and shipped out of Bertram, Texas.

We took this over because it worked on us first

Nine years of selling the Green Screen turned into buying the company in 2016. Part of that was business. Most of it was that they had stopped taking allergy medication and did not want to go back.

Today they run the warehouse, answer the phone, and will tell you which screen you actually need — including when the cheaper one is the right answer.

The Green Screen difference

One frame. A screen you change, not a filter you throw away.

A disposable pleated filter is thrown away whole, every time. The Green Screen splits the job: a permanent frame that stays in your unit, and a screen that slides out and gets replaced.

Against an allergen pleated filter, the Green Screen catches roughly 30% more of what sets off allergies while moving about 30% more air — which matters, because a filter that chokes airflow makes your system work harder to move less of it.

What the screen is for

Four reasons people call us

  • Woman on a sofa in a plant-filled living room using a tissue for allergy symptoms

    Built for allergies

The screens are MERV 10 and 11 — the level that starts holding pollen and the fine particles that set people off.

  • Ginger cat and a dog resting on a living room sofa at home

    Honest about pets

Dander and hair load a filter fast. We'll tell you to change it more often rather than sell you a filter that pretends otherwise.

  • A finger drawn through a thick layer of household dust on a dark surface

    Everyday dust, cheaply

If dust is the whole problem, the blue MERV 7 screen does it for less. Not every house needs the top of the range.

  • Man in a leather armchair exhaling cigar smoke in an indoor lounge

    Odors, handled properly

Activated carbon goes in alongside a particle screen, never instead of one. It handles smell; it does not filter dust.

We've got your back

How long have you been doing this?

Mickey and Gay sold the Green Screen for nine years before buying the company in 2016. The product itself has been in Texas homes far longer — one customer ran the same setup for thirteen years and had the ductwork to show for it.

Are the filters washable?

No, and we'd rather be clear about it. The frame is permanent and reusable. The screen inside it is replaced, not cleaned. Washable filters are a different product, and one we position against.

Where are they made?

In the United States, and shipped from our warehouse in Bertram, Texas. The business is 100% woman-owned.

Can you help me work out my size?

Yes — call or email us. Use the size printed on your current filter if you have it, or measure the opening. Filters are sold in nominal sizes that run slightly smaller than the opening, so a 20x25x1 actually measures about 19 5/8" x 24 5/8".
